CL:5 : The American Sign Language (ASL) sign for "CL:5 / classifier 5"

CL:5 can be used to show bunches or large groups of people, animals, or things on a surface.,
Just like an English pronoun you must first identify what you are talking about (an audience for example).  Then you can use the classifier to show how big the audience is, where they are, and how they are moving.

CL:5 can be produced with the fingers bent (clawed), the hand bent or the fingers straight.

SCADS-OF:  The handshape here in "SCADS" can be more specifically described as a "loose-claw-E-open."

So, in general the handshape is a CLAW shape. Sure. But really it is more flat than a full CLAW so we can think of it as a claw-E but it is more loose than a claw-E so we can add the word "loose" and we have "loose-claw-E."  Then we notice the thumb is sort of just sticking out there or in other words "open."  We need to account for the fact that the thumb is open (pointing out to the side) so we can add that to our description:  "loose-claw-E-open."
