American Sign Language: "account"

The word "account" can be signed in various ways to match your intended meaning.

If you mean "account" as in a story or a re-telling of an event then use the STORY sign.

If you mean "account" as in "accounting" then see the COUNT (accounting) sign.  This sign can be used for 'add numbers up,' and the verb form of "score" as in to account for points accrued."  (However most people sign NUMBER (in context) to mean "score" as in "WHAT NUMBER?" -- while watching a sporting event.)

If you mean "account" as in a "checking account" or a "bank account" then you can use this sign that touches the palm-side of an "A" hand to the fingers of the non-dominant palm, raises the "A" hand and moves it in a very small arc backwards again onto the palm near the heel of the non-dominant hand.
