Hello,
My name is Shyanne, I'm hearing, and just recently
starting to learn sign. The language, and culture, has
always been an interest to me, but it wasn't until the last
couple months that I actually sat down to start learning.
So first off, thank you for your wonderful videos!
They're very easy to follow, and you make a wonderful
teacher. I decided to email you to make a suggestion that I
think will be beneficial to a lot of people. I recently
started work at Denver International Airport, and as a
result see so much diversity it's crazy! If you ever have
the time, I think a short video on basic airport signs would
be really helpful. In the instances that I've run across so
far, it would have been helpful to have a basic airport
vocab in sign. These are the types of phrases I'm referring
to:
"Where is the ticket counter?"
"What airline are you flying?"
"Is this/where is security?"
"Can I take this through security?"
"How do I know my flight number?"
"Where can I get a boarding pass?"
"Where do the buses pick up?"
"Where can I get a rental car/hotel/taxi?"
"Security is running faster on the other side of the
airport"
"Security is taking a long time right now."
"Where are departures/arrivals?"
"My friend is flying in from -----, where do I meet them?"
"Are there better places to eat in the concourses/on the
other side of security?"
"I'm running late! What's the best thing for me to do/will I
make my flight?"
"What gate do I board at?"
It's these types of questions that I keep running into in
the instances that someone who signs needs to ask me
something. (Which is surprisingly, in my experience, quite a
bit more often than I expected!) We make do with my limited
signing, and paper if they need to, but I just felt like it
would be easier on both of us if I could adequately point
them in the right direction.
As I said, I know you're busy! But if you find the
time, I think this type of video would be seriously
beneficial! Thanks again for all the hard work you put into
teaching!
A grateful student,
Shyanne IronWIng
