Typically the concept of "jewelry" is fingerspelled in American Sign Language.
Some sources will tell you to sign "necklace, earrings, bracelet, etc." However, in real life if it is easier and faster to fingerspell a concept than it is to sign the concept most people tend to just fingerspell it. Often the fingerspelling
becomes smushed together and some letters may be dropped or only partially formed. This is no different from how spoken languages similar to English function. Many English words or phases are also "smushed" over time into shorter, faster versions.
Sure, if someone doesn't know what "jewelry" is -- knowing how to quickly explain jewelry is good -- but explaining something is not the same as saying or signing the word or sign for that thing.
