Discussion:
Some people say you should spell the concept of "roof." Sure, I can agree with that -- depending on what kind of roof it is -- since there are different kinds of roofs:
* The roof of your mouth. (Point to it.)
* The roof of your vehicle. (Point to it. Spell it. Use flat hands to show a flat surface close above your head.)
* Exclamations such as, "She hit the roof when she found out he was gambling!"
So, indeed, I can see why some folks would say to just "spell it."
However, if you mean "roof" as in the top of a house, just use two "flat"
hands to show the roof:
