The term "Lifeprint" has foundations in the word blueprint. The original concept
was to develop resources to help people create a blueprint for a successful
life. Eventually the name Lifeprint came to reflect the evolved philosophy
behind the website, which is that learning ASL and understanding Deaf culture
can leave a lasting, positive impact—like a unique "print" (or imprint) on a
person's life. The name can be thought of as emphasizing that ASL and Deaf
culture are not just communication tools but transformative aspects that enrich
people's lives, fostering connections and inclusivity across different
communities. The concept of a "lifeprint" symbolizes the enduring effect that
understanding and embracing these elements can have on individuals and society.
