neologism:
Neologisms in American Sign Language (ASL)
A neologism is a newly coined word or expression.
(ASL signs are words that are expressed using the hands (and often other parts of the body--particularly the face and head).
We could list neologisms here, but the problem with creating a static list of neologisms is that over time the list will become outdated. The items on the list will either:
1. Spread in usage and become generally accepted.
2. Die on the vine.
3. Continue on but only be recognized by a small number of people and require introduction each time they are used.
