Context-dependent signs:
The specific meaning of many signs can only be deduced (figured out) from context. For example:

HOTDOG: The sign "HOTDOG" can be interpreted as bologna, sausage, salami, or "hotdog." Which particular meaning or label you attach to the sign depends on the rest of the sentence and the situation in which you sign the sentence.

Deaf Culture Topic: Deaf Organizations
There are a large number of Deaf organizations in the world. There are more organizations than would be appropriate to discuss in a basic ASL class but here are two organizations for example:

NAD: National Association of the Deaf
WFD: World Federation of the Deaf
